I had the privilege of acting in Krista Komondor's "Mercy Machine" during its premier worldwide performance in Morgantown, West Virginia. This is a sometimes shocking, sometimes amusing and always touching play about the conditions in today's nursing homes. Even more importantly, the play brings home the need to consider Advanced Healthcare Directives. Without them, your life is literally at the mercy of others who may or may not have your best interests in mind.Even though the Director provided me with an electronic copy of the play's manuscript, I still went ahead and purchased a copy from Amazon. The play, it's message, and its writing were to good not to have it residing in my bookshelf. For a first effort on the part of Ms. Komondor, this is an amazing work. The characters have depth and personality and interplay in a meaningful way.
If you are interested in reading a play that entertains and educates, or if you are looking to produce "Mercy Machine" for your theater company, "Mercy Machine" comes highly recommended.

Mercy Machine Krista Komondor 9780615436036 Books Reviews
Intense play that deftly touches on the complexities of eldercare. Left me moved, troubled, uncertain, touched... and underscored one major irony a lack of mercy and compassion for elderly with limited resources who get caught in the machine of an inadequate health care system.
I look forward to seeing this play in production!
